ADULT BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Our adult basketball league is for ages 18+ and consists of a six game regular season, plus playoffs.  Play in the A-League (Competitive) or B-League (Fun, Semi-Competitive).  Each team must have a minimum of 7 players.  The league plays in the YMCA Gymnasium and the games are full court.  Games will consist of two, 20 minute halves, running clock.  Players call their own fouls during the regular season.  Games are supervised by YMCA staff.  Scores are kept by YMCA staff and volunteers. Further gameplay and rules will be sent to team captains prior to the season. Teams will play in dark or light t-shirts.

  • A-League Thursdays; 7:00 pm—9:00 pm
  • B-League Tuesdays; 7:00 pm—9:00 pm
  • January 4—March 10
  • $250/Team—Deadline:  December 30

CPR & FIRST AID

Learn Red Cross First Aid and CPR with AED in one class meeting with Dr. Amy Shannonhouse.

MEMBER LUNCHEONS

Join your friends for lunch.  Members are invited to a luncheon hosted at the YMCA one Thursday a month.  Bring a favorite dish, side dish or dessert to share with the group.  The Y will provide the drinks, plates and silverware.

Luncheon dates are:

  • Thursday, December 9— Breakfast with Santa Bring your favorite side or dessert.  Child Care will be caroling!
  • Thursday, January 13—Frosty’s Feast Bring your favorite main dish, side, or dessert.
  • Thursday, February 10—For the Love of Soup Bring your favorite soup, side dish, or dessert to share.

MEMBER CHALLENGES

TEAM LOSER CHALLENGE

Are you looking for some motivation to lose weight in 2022?  Our team loser challenge will help you with tips and personal support from a trainer, plus motivation from your teammates.  Pick your team of 3-6 members and weigh-in January 3-7, 2022. (If you don’t have teammates, we’ll pair you with people like you who want to succeed!) Create a team name (make it fun!)  Meet with your trainer for tips and advice! One hour team session included! Work out and make diet changes to reach your goal.  Receive weekly emails with healthy tips and motivation from your trainer. Support your team members with by working out together and sharing healthy meal ideas. Weigh-out the week of March 14-18!  Team with the highest percentage of weight loss wins $500 & prizes! Team Fee:  $100 per team (Members/Non-members).  Must be a member to utilize the YMCA and receive services (initial session with your trainer is included).

NO GAIN CAMPAIGN

We challenge you to maintain your weight from December 1 through January 5.  Start living healthier today with education and motivation from YMCA wellness staff.  This 5-week challenge will help you maintain weight over the holidays.  Weigh-in December 1 or anytime between 5 am and 9 pm.  Group support emails and tips will take place throughout the 5 weeks to discuss healthy eating and training tips to support you over the holidays.  Final weigh in on January 5 anytime between 5 am and 9 pm.  Earn a prize for maintaining your weight over the holidays.

12 DAYS OF FITMAS

Held in December—FREE for members!  Add this challenge to finish your workout.  The workout goes just like the song.  Your trainer has given you an additional exercise each day to build your Fit’mas for 12 days.  Complete the challenge by December 25 to earn a gift.  Be sure to sign your name on Santa’s List once completed.  Register at the front desk.

2022 in 2022 CHALLENGE

Achieve 2022 Minutes of exercise from January 3—March 7.  Minutes must be completed and tracked in the Clarion County YMCA. Those who complete the challenge will be entered into a fantastic giveaway.  Register for free!

LAZY MAN TRIATHLON

Nothing is lazy about this triathlon.  You will have 6 weeks to run or walk 26.2 miles, row or swim 2.5 miles, and bike or elliptical 112 miles.  Earn a t-shirt for completing the challenge.

  • Challenge runs February 9—March 23
  • Must be completed at the YMCA
  • Ages 12+
  • $17/Members Only
  • *We must have at least 15 participants purchase shirts.

GYM ACTIVITIES

OPEN GYM

Open Gym can be utilized by members.  Equipment and basketballs are available for use. Come and use the space, it’s open for you. Please check the gym schedule for availability. Schedules available at the Membership Desk and online at www.clarioncountyymca.org/resources.

PICKLEBALL—OPEN PLAY

Come and play America’s fastest growing sport! Pickleball is a paddle sport accessible for all ages and skills. The rules are simple and easy to pick up and play for beginners and can quickly progress into a fast paced and competitive game for more experienced players.

BEGINNER PICKLEBALL CLINIC

Come learn the basics of pickleball from our volunteer pickleball ambassadors!  Sign up at the front desk.

BEGINNER BOXING

An introduction course to learn the fundamentals of boxing.  Open to all ages 12+!  YMCA volunteer boxer Ron Clark will help you learn the proper techniques for a great cardio workout, to learn hand-eye coordination, awareness, and gain strength & confidence.  Available to all ability levels including teens, adults and seniors.  Boxing gloves will be available at the front desk in a variety of sizes, or bring your own gloves.

  • Held Twice Weekly; Pick a time from 12-6:30 pm  Monday, Wednesday or Friday by appointment at the Membership Desk
  • Monthly Fee:  $20/Members


WELLNESS

PERSONAL TRAINING/WELLNESS COACHING

Get results by working with a personal trainer.  Work one-on-one or in a small group (2-4 people) with a Certified Personal Trainer or  Wellness Coach to get the results you want.  Their expertise will enhance your ability to reach new levels in your personal fitness and well-being.  This is a great way to add direction, accountability, and unlimited access to fitness advice and motivation.

  • $28 YMCA Member, $40 non-members per one hour session.  

FREE SMART START PROGRAM

Smart Start is a program that provides you with the tools and knowledge you need to reach your fitness goals.  The program is customized to your needs and will help you set attainable goals to provide the ongoing support necessary for your  success.  In three short meetings, we can take you from an exercise skeptic to a confident individual who is excited about working out.  In just a few sessions, you will gain the tools and resources to help you succeed.  This service is available to members ages 12 and up.  Younger ages can be approved by our Branch Director.

HEALTHY FRIENDS REHABILITATION

The YMCA Healthy Friends program is a supervised fitness program available for clients who have sustained an injury, illness, or cardiac event and require supervised care. This program benefits those who have completed a supervised therapy program and are looking to transition into a gym setting to stay strong and active.  Healthy Friends meets 2 days per week for 60 minutes per day.  Please register at the YMCA.

  • Tuesday, Thursday  10:30 –11:30 am
  • Monthly Fee:  $25/Member; $60/Non-member
